Aaren Smith is UK Bound!

Explosive forward Aaren Smith is UK bound to continue his playing career whilst earning his Master’s Degree. The 6’6” forward who hails from Maryland played his first two season of college basketball at Rutgers University before transferring to The University of the District of Columbia to round out his college career.

Smith averaged 12.1 points and 5.6 rebounds as a senior for the UCD Firebirds, whilst earning his undergraduate degree in Political Science. He will attend Durham University to study for his MSc in Criminology & Criminal Justice. Durham is one of the top academic institutions in the UK, and the men’s basketball team runners up in last season’s British University & Colleges National Final.

Smith had this to say about the opportunity “Being able to come to England to play the game I love and further my education at Durham University has become one of the greatest opportunities I’ve ever been given. This experience will jumpstart my careers both on and off the court, and has overall created a win-win situation for me. Couldn’t have made it here without the support of my family, and Student Athlete Network, who have been driven to help me in the process. I look forward to a great season with Durham and connecting with everyone involved in their community.”
